Who is the writer behind this newsletter?
Leah Tharin is technology renaissance person. She is both a serial entrepreneur with 4 of her own startups under her belt (shock warning: She even had her own board game store, IN THE REAL WORLD!), in parallel to being a top product leader at high growth startups. Thats further in addition to advisory positions at a slew of companies, whileeee also managing a newsletter/podcast that earned her a 2024 substack "featured publication" award for its excellence.
There is a concept that counter-intuitively, doing more things in parallel will actually make you get more done because of the pressure to just do the most important things because of lack of time. Leah is the proof of this maxim.
What is this newsletter about?
Leahs focus is hardcore on the product lifecycle. When we say lifecycle we mean from the the beginning to the highest scale; covering how to launch new products and find product market fit, up through how to scale and retain customers through the late stage lifecycle.
Her formats are combination of guides from her own personal experience alongside podcasts with industry limunaries on there on the front lines.
What makes Leah's content such a treasure trove is threefold: A. the breadth and depth of her career. She has successfully worked across so many companies through so many stages in the lifecycle, she has reached a deep level of maturity and understanding on fundamental concepts to the craft. B. She is still active. Some writers are less in the trenches, and write more purely from historical learnings but cannot provide data from the front-lines. Leah is doing both, allowing you to learn both from her historical bedrock alongside. C. Her guest lecturers. Its likely a combination of her personality, persona and reputation that allows Leah to work on content with some really fantastic professionals. Leah is also very effective and steering conversations and creating a structured discussions that usually leads to punchy discourse with lots of insights while skirting loose meandering that easily happens in podcasts managed by less skilled interviewers.
You can be assured to get very actionable insights for the vocation of product management.
Why its worth your time
Leahs content is the quintessence of why we made Summereeze in the first place. She is working at the cutting edge of her fields and has incredible insights that we crave to hook into and utilize in our own careers to achieve the goals that we want.
She is incredibly thorough and generous with her work. She goes well beyond just writing out her content but creates graphics/illustrations and diagrams to visualize her strategies and protocols.
It cannot be understated how powerful and meaningful this extra work is. We (the team here) are extremely visual learners and it doesn't only help to visualize a concept that someone is trying to explain, its amazing to understand how they visualize it to themselves. Being able to 👀 the model as they see it.
Where to dip your toes in
Leah has been kind enough to make a best of page including her top guides (there are three as of this writing), her top articles, and her top podcast episodes.
For a great starter though with an absolute legendary personality in growth marketing, her interview with Guillaume is a gem.
